Hi [FIRSTNAME], Welcome to our first Newsletter as Fresh Hope Ministries International (FHMI) since we changed our name from Good Shepherd Ministries over a year ago. Please feel free to visit our website http://fresh-hope.org and sign the Guest book. Our apologies for the partial Newsletter sent out the other day, I was doing a test mailing and accidentally sent it to everyone! For some of you this is your first contact with FHMI. Our mailing list is made up from visitors to our website who have signed up for the Newsletter or whose email address we have picked up as we come in contact with those who are interested in what God is doing through us. If you no longer want to receive news from FHMI please use the unsubscribe link at the end of this email. We would greatly appreciate your prayers for David who is travelling to Sierra Leone this Friday Oct 6 and returning on Oct 17th. He will be doing project assessment on all the new inherited projects and looking at new ones. Alec Depledge, from New Life Church in Brigg, North Lincolnshire in England will be travelling with David. All the short news items below are linked by 'Read more...' links to our website www.fresh-hope.org where you can read the full article and see the photographs. All our projects will be supervised and managed directly by our own staff on the ground. Although Fresh Hope Ministries International is a UK based Trust based in Bangor, Northern Ireland our Operations Centre is in Sierra Leone's second largest city, Bo. * Read more... They assess local projects in Sierra Leone that benefit the poor and then assist with building, decorating, refurbishment and income generating projects. We looked at three of their programmes in Freetown, the capital city of Sierra Leone; the last 2 have similarities to our own proposed projects. We plan to use elements of these last 2 projects in our own future developments. * Read more... We have shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ with nearly 1/2 a million people since it started and continuing to reach into over 90 countries every month. We even get visits from countries where there is severe persecution of Christianity such as Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Vietnam, Maldives, Iran and even China. From China alone we had 432 pages from the site viewed in one month. * Read more... We were also able to provide funding for them to get started with a school building and 10 of a staff. We were also able to provide funding for the purchase 2.5 acres of land on the outskirts of Kenema for future development as an orphanage, church and school complex. Good Shepherd Ministries have now returned to operating completely independently and we pray blessing on them for the continuation of their vision. CHILDREN'S VILLAGE LAND PURCHASE Our plan is to consolidate our various children's based projects on one site. This will offer safety to the children and be manageable from a supervisor and administrative point of view. We have looked at other projects in Africa and we believe this is the best model. Our initial plan is to buy 2-3 acres of land costing around £3200 (GBP) an acre or $5800 (USD) * Read more... In most cases they have brothers and/or sisters and guardians. The individual support each orphan receives covers the following: * Housing Costs * Feeding * Guardian support * Table, chair and bedding * Toiletries etc. * School Uniforms * School Fees * Medical Care * Transport * Read more... ( http://www.fresh-hope.org/sponsor-a-project/orphanage-project/orphan-support.html ) When David returns from Sierra Leone we will send out another Newsletter detailing all the projects.
